The Ukrainian army is not slumbering and is also developing its branches of technology in the direction of armament. For example, the country hopes that their promising Oplot is much more powerful than the main vehicles of other states, whether this is true is debatable and it is better to entrust it to experts.

But while the BM is on the horizon, we can find out what tanks Ukraine has in service right now. In fact, there are quite a lot of them and some are remnants from the USSR country.

T-84U «Oplot»

The original T-84 was designed and built at the Kharkov plant. For all time, very few units of such equipment were produced. During the improvement, the combat vehicle received a welded-rolled turret, the armor is multilayer and reliable.

To this point, these modernized versions, which entered the tanks of Ukraine, made no more than 5 units. For dynamic protection is responsible for the «Nozh» (Knife) system.

  • Weight: 47.5 tons
  • Cannon: 125 mm (2A46M-1)
  • Power: 1200 hp.
  • Speed: 70 km/h
  • Range: 450 km

Т-64BM «Bulat»

In 2004, the «Bulat» was added to Ukraine's tanks; its development cost the country about half a million dollars. The modernized version has improved power, maneuverability and protection characteristics.

Ukrainians have their own KBAZ cannon, it was put on the improved version of the combat vehicle. With it, the maximum range of fire has increased sharply to 5 kilometers.

Additionally, armor was installed throughout the hull and for the turret. Because of this, the T-64BM added a lot of weight, gained another 3 tons at least.

  • Weight: 45 tons
  • Cannon: 125 mm (KBAZ)
  • Power: 850 hp
  • Speed: 60 km/h
  • Range: 385 km

T-64BV

This model hit Ukrainian tanks in 1985, a modernized version of the original. The only changes were the Contact-1 dynamic protection, as well as improved armor on the hull.

The Ukrainian tank is equipped with a 9M112 Cobra missile system and a laser rangefinder, which is characterized by increased accuracy in calculating the distance to the target.

  • Weight: 39 tons
  • Cannon: 125 mm (2A46M-2)
  • Power: 700 hp
  • Speed: 60 km/h
  • Range: 600 km

BM «Oplot»

It is vastly superior to all other Ukrainian tanks in service, at least because it is younger and more promising. It is produced by the Malyshev ZTM plant.

The heavy tank entered production in 2008 and was adopted for service the following year. At the moment, their number has increased to 50 units.

As the main weapon for "Oplot" was chosen a gun with a caliber of 125 mm KBA-3, which became a full-fledged copy of the Soviet gun 2A46M-1. The ammunition set contains 46 shells.

Active protection is its own, "Varta", but if you look at which tanks in service in Ukraine have the same, you will not find the answer. The forehead is rolled up with armor 65 cm thick, the hull 50 cm thick.

  • Weight: 51 tons
  • Cannon: 125 mm (KBA-3)
  • Power: 1200 hp.
  • Speed: 70 km/h
  • Range: 500 km
